BASKETBALL IS GOLDEN IN SOUTH FLORIDA

Boynton Beach, FL - Excitement filled the air on Saturday Night November 1, 2014 as The South Florida Gold opened its second season in The American Basketball Association. The crowd was fired up and loud as The Gold came out quick against the Montgomery Blackhawks. The Gold would take advantage of the 3-d rule, where if a turnover occurs in the back court a made basket is worth an extra point.The Gold would be led by Shedrick "The General" Haynes who would lead the team in scoring with 30 points. Scott "The Professor" Draugn would show his expertise with many 3 pointers. Charlie "Cobra" Coley would showcase the skills that made him popular with The Harlem Globetrotters. Chris Watson would put on a dunking exhibition that would make Michael Jordan envious. Downtown Freddy Brown would show the crowd why he was invited to The NBA D-League Draft. Marquis Mathis brought the crowd to their feet with play that brought back memories of The Showtime Lakers. The Gold would defeat The Blackhawks 187-130.
The Gold would return to the hardwood on Sunday November 2, 2014 looking to improve on their performance from the night before seeking a sweep of the weekend series. Baby Mike Pugh would lead The Gold and build momentum from the start as he caught fire and set the gym ablaze scoring 43 points. Each player would make major contributions on the offensive and defensive end. Charles "Cobra" Coley would set the tone with stellar defensive play along with Desmond "DTRAIN" Brown. Brown and Coley would create several 3-D opportunities that The Gold capitalized on. There were many highlights such as a fast break started by Sheddrick "The General" Haynes who would feed Scott "The Professor" Draughn who passed to Marquis Mathis who finished with a thunderous windmill jam worthy of The And One Mix Tape Tour. Not to be outdone Chris Watson would make an amazing spin move and go up for a rim rocking dunk that brought the fans to their feet. Levishea "Six" Freeman and Robert Blake would dominate the paint leading to many easy inside buckets. Jared Smith, Sean Scott, Daniel St-Juste and Dowtown Freddy Brown would come in off the bench to continue the momentum for The Gold who defeated The Blackhawks 189-105 to improve their season record to 2-0.
