LEADERSHIP ON AND OFF THE COURT!!!
When one speaks of leadership on and off the court the most likely names that will come up are Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, and Magic Johnson. These 3 players exemplified the ideal that team work makes the dream work and have won multiple championships. The key is that they were not only winners on the court but they are winners off the court as they have a championship mentality in all that they do. In South Florida there is a team that is winning both on and off the court and proving that service to humanity is the best work of life. The South Florida Gold of The American Basketball Association exemplifies the concepts of teamwork, sportsmanship, and leadership. Every game that The Gold Plays is tied into a charity as The Gold is community oriented and sponsor driven and believes in engaging the community and creating opportunities through basketball. In the 2013- 2014 Season The Gold finished 3rd in The ABA and was named expansion team of the year. In 2014-2015 The Gold have been building on their success and are currently ranked #2 in The ABA with a 6-0 record. They have assisted several charitable organizations including churches, homeless shelters, and veterans organizations. On 12/20 The Gold will Slam Dunk Cancer when they tip off against The Steel City Yellow Jackets at 8 PM at Boynton Beach High School. On 12/13 at 7 PM and 12/14 at 4 PM The Gold will host The Shizouka Gym Rats from Tokyo and will celebrate Japanese Heritage at the games played at Boynton Beach High School.
The Gold has many leaders from head Coach ken Mitchell who teaches high school during the day and is very involved in the community to Scott "The Professor" Draughn who works during the day and coached The Boynton beach High School Basketball Team when not playing or practicing with The Gold. Every player brings some form of leadership to the court and extends this leadership off the court. The Gold look forward to seeing you at a game during the 2014-2015 season.
