GOLD Still Mining For A Championship!!!

    The South Florida Gold entered this past weekend on a mission to showcase their talents on ESPN 3 while showing the world while they are a championship caliber team. With Tedric "The Thrill"Hill added to the line up The Gold would take an early lead and continue to build on the lead as Marquis Starquis Mathis would bring the  crowd of over 1,000 to its feet with a monstrous jam, Sheddrick Rascal Haynes and Mike Baby Mike Pugh would facilitate much of the scoring by involving Charlie Cobra Coley creating a high flying aerial show filled with slams and easy lay ups. At the end of 1 The Gold would lead 36-25. Desmond DTrain Brown and Jarett Smith would come in off the bench with Scott The Professor Draughn  and help the Gold to preserve a lead going into half time 59-53. The Gold would make some adjustments and  create a few 3D opportunities and finish the 3rd quarter strong going ahead 92-77. Chris watson and Gertavian Blake would contribute coming off the bench to spark the defense which led to offense and extending the lead. As the final buzzer sounded it was Gold 132 Yellow Jackets 113.
    On Sunday The Gold would look for the sweep against The Yellow Jackets . The Yellow Jackets seemed determined not to let this happen led by Antonio Reedick who would start the scoring. Maurice Mendoza would play tenacious defense and create turnovers leading to baskets by Lamar Castile. The Yellow Jackets would be up by as many as 9 points in the first quarter when The Gold led by the bench strength of Jarrett Smith, Gertavian Blake, Desmond DTrain Brown,and Rel Blocker would close the gap and tie the game 24-24 at the end of 1. Sheddrick Rascal Haynes Charlie Cobra Coley, Marquis Starquis Mathis, Mike Baby Mike Pugh, and Tedric "The Thrill" Hill would begin the 2nd quarter and help the Gold to keep it close. Levishea Six Freeman and Scott The Professor Draughn would come in off the bench giving The GOLD energy and leading to a 54-53 half time lead. The Yellow Jackets would come out firing on all cylinders  Led by Nick Novak and Nate Williams. Robert Duck and Albert Varacallo would assist in the onslaught that led to The Yellow Jackets leading  96 - 85 after 3. The Yellow Jackets would  stretch the lead to as large as 18 then The Gold would tighten up on defense led by Jarrett Smith and Desmond The DTrain Brown and cut the lead to 9. Scott The Professor Draughn and Marquis Starquis Mathis along with Tedric Hill would turn their game up a notch to cut the lead to 3 and then tie the game at 117 late in the 4th quarter. With 17 seconds left the Gold would trail 123-120 and create what would appear to be a  3D opportunity as the ball went out of bounds off The Yellow Jackets. The Gold would in bound the ball and then be tied up resulting in a held ball where The Yellow Jackets would be awarded the ball as a result of the alternate possession rule. The yellow jackets would in bound the ball and hold on for the 123-120 win.
